BIOGRAPHY
Jean-Michel Anctil, born in St-Pascal de Kamouraska. Even as a child, the urge to perform seemed omnipresent. At a very young age, while attending Jean Lapointe’s show at the Grand Théâtre de Québec, he said to his mother: ‘’One day you’ll come here, and I’ll be the one on stage’’.
After his first two concert tours: Jean-Michel Anctil (1996) and Rumeurs (1999), Jean-Michel was proclaimed Humorist of the Year three times, and Rumeurs was crowned Most Popular Comedy Show as many times at the Les Olivier gala.
In 2009, his third show, Tel quel, also won the Olivier for Most Popular Comedy Show, while the DVD of the show won a Félix at the 2013 ADISQ gala in the Album or DVD of the Year – Comedy category.
In August 2016, he will present Je4n-Michel, his fourth career show. His four solo shows have sold over a million tickets.
Alongside his successful career as a comedian, Jean-Michel likes to experiment with other aspects of the business. On the silver screen, he appeared in De père en flic, and also lent his voice to the character of the heroine’s father in the animated film Coraline. He was also host of Rock Détente radio for 4 years, and hosted Testé sur des humains on TVA for 4 seasons.
An active player in the LNI between 1997 and 2014, on October 16, 2017, he will be inducted into the LNI Hall of Fame.
Jean-Michel’s TV roles include Détect inc, Le cœur a ses raisons, 450 chemin du Golf and Lance et Compte : le grand duel, Tranches de vie, 30 vies, Mes Petits malheurs. In 2018, Jean-Michel decided to devote himself primarily to the art of acting.
His theater credits include Shakespeare pour les nuls, Les Voisins and Des Cailloux plein les poches alongside André Robitaille. In 2023, he will star in the adaptation of the cult film Le Père Noel est une ordure (2023-2025).
In 2022, he appeared in District 31 VI, Portrait-Robot II, then in Plan B IV, Le bonheur II, and in À Coeur battant and Alertes IV. Since 2023, he has been co-hosting Ça fini bien la semaine alongside Julie Bélanger.
In 2025, he starred alongside Louis-Philippe Dandenault in Passez au Salon, a series for which they were also ideators.
